Painting on paper and textile

Last week I made this painting. It was 'Sophia's evening'. Every other week on thursday we spend an evening at Sophia's home painting, making collages and so on. We use all kinds of material, but generally no textiles are involved.
It is called 'beeldend vormen' (I do not know how to translate it in English).
I listend to African music when painting this one. The rithm influences the brush strokes.

When I came home the piece below caught my attention because of the same colors.
I made this one last year and used cotton, procion MX, gelmedium with sand added, paint and stamps.
I has a feeling of Africa too. They match very good I think.

Just quilted

This small piece I made yesterday at the 'quilten speciaal' course. This was the second day Cherilyn Martin learned us a lot.
The photo underneath I used as a inspiration to make the piece. Just quilted and nothing else.

Batik II

Needs no words. This is batik. The paint is Dye-na-flow. I bought it and batik materials from Gunther at http://www.patchworkshop.de/. If you have never been there, take a look. A candystore for dyers and art quilters!

I used bees wax with parrafin but also soya wax. Be aware of the coloured newspaper photo's when ironing to remove the wax. Some of them - mostly when there is a lot of wax on the cloth - will give stains.... and they will stay there, unfortunately.
It is possible to remove the soya wax with water, but I ironed it too because dye-na-flow is a paint and has to be heat set first.

batik

This is the first batik cloth I made. I attend the course 'Quilten Speciaal' and last saturday Els van Baarle showed us how to make our first steps with batik and wax. It was a very inspiring day. More cloth will follow soon.

Photo project 1

Marloes and I are going to make a photo (or photo's) every week. We take a theme or subject first.
Today it is about the cold weather outside. Not seldom we have some kind of a project and mostly we have forgotten about it a week later. I hope this one will last longer...
If you want to see Marloes' photo's then take a look at her weblog: http://textielverfenderest.web-log.nl/

The weather was so photogenetic that I took more than a hundred photo's - and 99 did not 'pass the test'. 3 did and here they are.

Another colour

I have lots of them - these unfinished projects - waiting to be finished...
The centre is made of pieces of cotton, paper, candywraps, feathers, angelina, you name it and it's probably in there. An abaca tissue with a coloured rubbing is glued on top.
What I want to do next is to sew it and that's all (maybe). But always there will be something else to do first. Why is that?
