paperlamination on polyester voile

I already had this on my weblog a few weaks ago, I changed it a bit and now it is back.
It was a 'quilten speciaal' assignment: we had to transform stripes with machine quilting and/or embroidery. Because I didn't have any stripes, I made my own with paperlamination and altered it.

DAO quilt

125 cm x 125 cm
Cotton, tray dyeing, Procion MX dye, paint, silver foil, machine quilting

This one I made in 2008 when I did not have a weblog.
Because I am very bussy making a new quilt right now and because I may not show it yet -I want to submit it for a show -I'll show this one instead.
I made it for a friend who is an acupuncturist. It is hanging in her practise.

Painting on paper and textile

Last week I made this painting. It was 'Sophia's evening'. Every other week on thursday we spend an evening at Sophia's home painting, making collages and so on. We use all kinds of material, but generally no textiles are involved.
It is called 'beeldend vormen' (I do not know how to translate it in English).
I listend to African music when painting this one. The rithm influences the brush strokes.

When I came home the piece below caught my attention because of the same colors.
I made this one last year and used cotton, procion MX, gelmedium with sand added, paint and stamps.
I has a feeling of Africa too. They match very good I think.

Just quilted

This small piece I made yesterday at the 'quilten speciaal' course. This was the second day Cherilyn Martin learned us a lot.
The photo underneath I used as a inspiration to make the piece. Just quilted and nothing else.

Batik II

Needs no words. This is batik. The paint is Dye-na-flow. I bought it and batik materials from Gunther at http://www.patchworkshop.de/. If you have never been there, take a look. A candystore for dyers and art quilters!

I used bees wax with parrafin but also soya wax. Be aware of the coloured newspaper photo's when ironing to remove the wax. Some of them - mostly when there is a lot of wax on the cloth - will give stains.... and they will stay there, unfortunately.
It is possible to remove the soya wax with water, but I ironed it too because dye-na-flow is a paint and has to be heat set first.
